Business SQL Analyst

Parents and Teachers can follow our guidance step-by-step, create their own curriculum, or deep-dive into specific areas with over 30,000 games, worksheets, activities and lessons. is seeking a Business SQL Analyst who will define and implement metrics that enable us to improve our product and teach children more effectively. 

As a critical member of the Analytics Team, you will work closely with the Marketing, Content, and Engineering teams to better understand our products and customers. Using dashboards and reports, you will surface the insights you discover. You have experience gathering project requirements and communicating with stakeholders, and you have a background to understand different groups’ needs. You have written SQL in the workplace and can write complex SQL queries. You have experience with Python/Airflow/ETL, and if not you are enthusiastic to learn.

This is a full-time position based in San Mateo, CA.


  • Work with teams to use data to understand how our customers use our product and how to improve our product
  • Work with teams to define, track, and surface project success metrics
  • Create reliable and trusted dashboards that communicate results clearly and effectively and highlight actionable insights
  • Actively partner with Engineering to ensure correct data is being collected
  • Help build out our Analytics pipeline and framework

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2-4 years professional experience working with business teams and gathering analytics requirements
  • 2-4 years experience writing complex SQL queries in a professional/production environment, Redshift and Presto experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience with creating data visualizations

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with and understanding the needs of a content team or a marketing team
  • Programming experience, especially with Python
  • Experience implementing data pipelines, especially on Airflow
  • NoSQL query experience, especially with MongoDB
