As a Sr Software Engineer at, you will have an opportunity to develop technology that will help millions of people who visit the site weekly. is in search of a full-time Software Engineer who is creative, driven, and wants to have a big impact while working in small teams. In our small company environment, engineers are empowered to affect all aspects of the site: from technology decisions and architecture to new project ideas. All engineers are exposed to a wide array of programming projects, which make use of many different technologies and languages, and are expected to be quick learners and flexible in their skills. Candidates must have experience with or be willing to learn PHP 7, React, Javascript, MySQL, MongoDB, as well as modern web technologies such as webpack, HTML5 and CSS3. Familiarity with mobile apps and jQuery is a plus.

This is a full-time position.


  • Work in small Agile teams and be able to contribute to discussions about architecture and design
  • Contribute creative energy to cross-functional teams to come up with project ideas and improvements
  • Develop new features and improve existing features
  • Write elegant, readable, and well-documented code


  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
  • 5+ years building software products
  • Experience understanding large code bases
  • Object Oriented PHP, Javascript, MySQL, CSS, MongoDB
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A good understanding of quality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Being able to mentor junior engineers and interns


  • A Github page or similar portfolio of previous work or contribution to open source projects
  • Passion for the educational space
  • Mobile experience: apps and/or responsive design
  • Experience with high performance websites and optimizations
  • Familiar with Linux and Linux system administration with AWS
